James Hamilton is a writer, producer, and comedian based in Brooklyn, NY. His story, “Over My Head,” won The Moth’s 2018 NYC GrandSlam Championship. He was a featured writer for NBC’s 2016 Scene Showcase in Los Angeles and New York City.

James has worked as a writer and producer on documentaries, podcasts, television, and live events. Most recently, he has partnered with the storytelling organization Dear World to produce live events and experiences for communities, companies, and teams around the world, including Accenture, Harvard, and the Duke University’s men’s basketball team.

As a comedian, James performs stand-up, storytelling, and sketch comedy. He has been featured in many of North America’s top comedy festivals, including San Francisco Sketch Fest, Brooklyn Comedy Festival, Chicago Sketch Fest, Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival, and Austin’s Moontower and Oddity Festival. He was a member of the sketch comedy group, Stupid Time Machine, which performed live shows across the country, created online videos, and were featured in Bustle, Upworthy, and Funny or Die. 

James was born in Colorado but started writing and performing while living in New Orleans. There, he was one of the creators, producers, and hosts of the live storytelling show and podcast, Shipwrecked! in NOLA. His stories, "A Big Deal" and "The Kid," were featured on WWNO's "All Thing New Orleans."
