James Hamilton is an Emmy Award-winning writer, comedian and producer.  He has worked with NBC Sports, VICE News, PBS, The Moth Radio Hour and more. His debut stand-up album, “I Don’t Deserve These Deals,” was released in 2023 and was described as, “the sort of album that makes you wonder how wrong the Grammys are about the nominations for Best Comedy Album.” He is a co-host of Brooklyn’s monthly stand-up show, Good Delivery.

James was a Show Writer for NBC Sports’ coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics. He pitched, researched and wrote in-studio coverage for USA Network, which ranked as the nation’s top cable entertainment network during the two weeks of competition.

James was a co-writer for the feature-length documentary, The Neutral Ground (Tribeca Film Festival, POV on PBS, 2021). The film was called “a timely, remarkable, and engaging work of social inquisitiveness.” The film was nominated for an Emmy for Best Historical Documentary and James’ writing was nominated for a 2021 Critics Choice Award for “Best Narration.” He lost to Val Kilmer, which….fair.

From 2020 to 2023, James was a Show Writer and voiceover performer with VICE News Tonight. In 2020, James was a writer on the show that won an Emmy for “Outstanding Newscast.” As part of VNT, he produced and wrote segments, including graphics-based explainers, field reports and desk reports. He also wrote and story-edited long-form documentary field pieces, including ones that were nominated for a Peabody Award, a GLAAD award and a James Beard Award for Media.

James has also written for both seasons of VICE TV’s hybrid news and food show, Counter Space, which was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Culinary Series. He wrote intros and monologues for the show’s Emmy-nominated host and was the writer for the segment, “Table Steaks” which was nominated for an Emmy in the category of “Outstanding Short Feature in a Newscast.”

James has performed around the country as a stand-up comedian and storyteller. He has been featured on The Moth Radio Hour and, in 2018, won the Moth NYC GrandSlam Championship. He has performed at many of North America’s top comedy festivals, including San Franciscos Sketch Fest, Toronto Sketchfest, Brooklyn Comedy Festival, and Moontower Comedy and Oddity Festival.
